I design and build complex game systems for Minecraft Bedrock — state machines, entity systems, tooling — working around engine limitations to create mechanics that shouldn't be possible.

About Me

Gameplay systems, add-on architecture, and technical implementation for Minecraft Bedrock.

I'm Christian Loffel, a Bedrock systems developer with over a decade in the Minecraft space. I started out building maps, and along the way got to work with studios like Blockworks, Spark Squared, and Aria Creations.

They say you never really quit Minecraft — you just take long breaks. Mine was a long one. When I came back, what pulled me in had changed: not the maps anymore, but the code. The systems. The constraint-driven problem solving that Bedrock quietly forces on you.

I know this game at a deep level. Not just how to use the tools, but why the engine behaves the way it does, where the limits are, and how to build around them in ways that feel native — not hacked together.

The Void Frog lets the player dash quickly in the movement direction while it is sitting on the player's shoulder.

When hit by an enemy, the Void Frog lifts nearby monsters into floating bubbles to hold them in place.

When hit by a projectile, the Twilight Turtle enters a guarded state and raises a radial field that deflects all incoming projectiles.

Cursed Llama & Haunted Goat - Charged Dash

While riding the Cursed Llama or Haunted Goat, hold jump to charge a dash. On release, mobs in a cone in front of the mount are launched — the Llama knocks them up, the Goat knocks them back; the longer the charge, the stronger the launch.
